About the Role
Position Overview
We are seeking skilled Over-the-Phone Interpreters to join our expanding language services team. As an OPI, you will provide real-time consecutive interpretation via telephone for diverse clients including healthcare providers, legal services, government agencies, social services, and businesses. Calls may range from brief exchanges to extended sessions requiring accuracy, cultural competency, and professionalism under pressure.
We currently have a need for Remote Virtual Interpreters who are fluent in one or more of the following languages and have a sincere desire to use their language skills to help people:
- Arabic
- Bengali
- Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin)
- Dari
- Farsi/Persian
- French
- Haitian Creole
- Italian
- Korean
- Kurdish (Sorani & Kurmanji)
- Pashto
- Polish
- Russian
- Turkish
- Urdu
- Yiddish
Key Responsibilities
- Provides consecutive, first-person interpretation via telephone
- Interprets meaning, tone, and cultural context accurately without adding, omitting, or altering information
- Follows all interpreter protocols, confidentiality policies, and professional ethics as required by Words Warriors LLC and clients
- Handles sensitive topics professionally (medical, legal, social services, emergency situations)
- Manages call flow, requests clarification when needed, and completes calls efficiently while maintaining quality standards
- Continuously improves vocabulary and specialized subject matter knowledge for various client sectors
Requirements
Submission of updated Resume in English at time of Application
Completion of English Language Proficiency with a language rating of "technical proficiency" (3 or higher on the nationally recognized ILR scale)
Successful completion of a Mock oral interpretation session. Interpreters are evaluated against 24 quality standards and must attain a passing score
Completion of Propio's online Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology Assessment, with a passing score
A full Background Check and Security Screen
A signed commitment to confidentiality, adherence to ethics, and HIPAA compliance
Preferred Qualifications:
1+ years of interpreting experience.
