About the Role
Position Overview
We are seeking professional Video Remote Interpreters to provide real-time interpretation via video conferencing platforms. As a VRI, you will facilitate communication for healthcare appointments, legal consultations, business meetings, educational settings, and social services. Video interpretation requires strong visual presentation, technical proficiency, and the ability to interpret both verbal and non-verbal communication.
We currently have a need for Remote Video Remote Interpreters who are fluent in one or more of the following languages and have a sincere desire to use their language skills to help people:
- Arabic
- Bengali
- Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin)
- Dari
- Farsi/Persian
- French
- Haitian Creole
- Italian
- Korean
- Kurdish (Sorani & Kurmanji)
- Pashto
- Polish
- Russian
- Turkish
- Urdu
- Yiddish
We are seeking passionate professionals who are committed to delivering accurate, culturally-informed interpretation services via video platform. This role requires comfort and professionalism on camera.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides consecutive, first-person interpretation via video platform
- Interprets meaning, tone, and cultural context accurately without adding, omitting, or altering information
- Follows all interpreter protocols, confidentiality policies, and professional ethics as required by Words Warriors LLC and clients
- Maintains professional appearance and demeanor on camera at all times
- Handles sensitive topics professionally (medical, legal, social services, emergency situations)
- Manages video call flow, requests clarification when needed, and completes calls efficiently while maintaining quality standards
- Continuously improves vocabulary and specialized subject matter knowledge for various client sectors
Requirements
Submission of updated Resume in English at time of Application
Completion of English Language Proficiency with a language rating of "technical proficiency" (3 or higher on the nationally recognized ILR scale)
Successful completion of a Mock oral interpretation session. Interpreters are evaluated against 24 quality standards and must attain a passing score
Completion of Propio's online Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology Assessment, with a passing score
A full Background Check and Security Screen
A signed commitment to confidentiality, adherence to ethics, and HIPAA compliance
Professional video setup: Webcam (HD quality preferred), reliable high-speed internet connection, and quiet, well-lit workspace with neutral background
Comfort and professionalism on camera with appropriate business attire
Technical proficiency with video conferencing platforms
Preferred Qualifications:
1+ years of video remote or onsite interpreting experience.
